When I first was given the tool of elluminate, I was pretty impressed at how quickly it you could get to the information that you’re looking for. Everything is housed in a single location. You don’t have to go to a separate server. You don’t have to go to multiple folders. It’s all within the same paradigm. And you just need to know what study and what data you’re looking for.
And it’s very simple. And the analytics, I’ll be quite honest, I was blown away by. For something to be that out of box so fast, so quick, to be able to take all that information, compile it across your studies and your therapeutic areas and present it in an organized fashion, was definitely a game changer. elluminate has made it easier for us to take a look at the transformed data that comes into us in SDTM format and compare it against our raw information.
We can look across our clinical data from our EDC application as well as the raw information from our vendors and see what the final product would look like in the SDTM. We can take a look at that in different views and side by side and make sure that the mapping is correct and some of the logical implications of the data transformations are correct.
elluminate has made it much easier to bring information together across multiple studies, across multiple therapeutic areas in ways that other applications just haven’t found because it has an analytics function that can look across therapeutic areas, you can quickly see high-level analytics and then dive deeper, either by study or by site or by country. And it’s a very valuable tool.
When you’re taking a look at something across an organization, it can help you better plan future studies. You can take a look at your demographics as an example across your entire platform, across all of your studies, and say are we are we under-representing a community? What can we do in order to make sure that we’re representing that target in a better, more thoughtful manner for future studies?
elluminate has helped us in ways of making data management the central focal point for all of our data needs, whether it’s review or if it’s bringing the information together in analytics. It has definitely opened up the importance of that data and the data management team to the rest of the organization. elluminate gives us the ability to talk to our medical monitors as data managers very quickly.
We can look at the same record, the same piece of information, and communicate within that tool and have a dialog back and forth. If something isn’t making sense, but we’re not ready to query it, we can issue a comment within the application, have the medical monitor take a look. They can say, “Oh yeah, that that doesn’t make sense”.
Or they might say, “Oh yeah, that makes perfect sense”. elluminate has a lot of flexibility, elluminate has a lot of potential to solve some difficult questions that your clinical teams and your medical monitors may have. Maybe it’s your safety review or they might have a lot of difficult questions that in the past would have to go through a stat review or a whole separate process to build an analytic or a graph or a table. This has made that process much faster. They can go to a single source in a very standardized way and get the kinds of listings that are predictable for presentation.
Where elluminate is going is definitely attractive. It makes it more of an attractive product for us to continue to consume. I love elluminate for many applications, like the analytics component in many components of Data Central, but there are some key elements that I think are being investigated for future development that will continue enhancing that relationship between us and elluminate.
